Dear Lx,
I am deeply disappointed and sad about our discussion today and after reading some more "biased" newspapers at home I am even more aggrieved.
What - am I asking myself - does you and many other members of Arabian / Persian / Muslim communities cause to affirm something very hard against German authorities, against german or western countries.
Since the world war many people in my country try to establish a multicultural society which should work and give all religions (and those who do not believe) the chance to live in Germany. That's why you are here in CA I guess: Because you get the chance, as I get it as a western guy.
Now: Where in the world do you find a multicultural society without racism ? Where don t you find cases like Dresden ?
The fact that the guy could enter the room with a knife is so terrible and I feel personnally ashamed. The reason is, that it was a court for the penalty of 750 Euro, which is nothing so nobody expected that, that's why it was in a non secured area.
Again : They are fully responsible for this terrible mistake not to control weapons. But for example : ME I was a few times at courts like that where you just go for some money stress etc. and there was no control, because we are a very quiet and safe country.
This woman for sure was victim of racism!
This woman was victim of a Islamic phobia!
The guy who killed her was from a Russian region where Islamic people are hated because of the war against Chechnya. He was six years in Germany and hated apparently all strangers (although he was a stranger as well).
Recently the vice president of Iran said it was the German government who killed (directly by order )this woman. Now I would like to understand where this aggression comes from ? I know U are not Iran and I hope U are not supporting this, but I do not understand how you can affirm that German authorities "let him kill".
The fact that a stupid police man shot the husband is a terrible coincidence, one aspect of the story. He entered the room in panic and shot because he saw the husband on the woman. Let' s assume he was a racist in worst case like the killer (he wasn't), would you really think that honest well educated people like the judges or advocates would support to kill a woman of whatever which religion ;( ?
Many germans feel terrible ashamed about this and discuss via internet, although this guy wasnt even a german by origin. They could also say it was a immigrant (six years does not change your own culture) but they are - and media do not hide that – ashamed about the conditions in their country.
But we should be careful about accusing each other. Germans are attacked in the world e.g. in Turkey (at the same day as Dresden) for being richer than others, or in Somalia by pirates for other reasons. Nobody says that this is a muslim against german conflict.
You say that western society thinks, that Muslim are not equal. I would like to ask you one thing: Many Islamic communities say in a peaceful way, but they say it, that they think their sexual moral for instance is better than that of "us". Do you think that in Muslim countries western people are understood completely, that YOU respect US in an totally equal way? NO, because this is not possible. Our history and yours was not the same for so long. (sexual revolution for example) since the internet made become the world "ONE VILLAGE": We cannot understand you and you cannot understand us totally. THE FACT THAT 1000% MORE MUSLIMS ARE IN WESTERN countries and not the opposite is also a strong reason for this misunderstanding.
If I was in Iran, I don’t know which one of my ideas I could live out without being misunderstood. I think we do many mistakes and errors in Germany but the majority tries to improve life between cultures and not the opposite. My whole quartier was a muslim area, I have lifed all my life with Muslims, Lx, all my life, in opposite to you. I have never had any problems or felt angry about them. The turkeys build our country after the world war and many of them now are well integrated and good earning people. The woman who was killed was a well educated, invited woman, her husband scientist, they were definitely welcomed. You say that you are not equal in Canada . Please explain me that,... I am sitting at home because I did n got my bourse for the third time, and really I am not happy . I guess you got a good chance in Canada and when I see my Prof who is really strong believing Muslim I can't understand how a society could even work better? Please, if you do not think so, go ahead and explain me.
I would like to ask you - what do you want to seed, Lx, between us?
I appreciate you very much as an intelligent interesting woman, and especially during the discussions about life and love I feel equal waves and esteem your ideas and opinion. That's why it is so difficult for me that in a situation where the arabic world accuses a state and society which is one of the most opened in the world, in such a hard way , you are able to repeat similair words to your fellow student.
I hope that we find a way to appreciate each other and to either not talk about politics or agree in discussing in a more differentiated way.
Thank you very much for reading this (please) personal notes,
with my best regards and respect,
your fellow student FLORIAN (montreal, 15th july 2009)
